Oops – I have been so busy that I haven’t had a chance to update. 🙂 Things are good though, no baby yet. Our house is decorated for Christmas, many presents are wrapped, my labor bag is packed, and I’m pretty much ‘ready’.
My Doc appointment last Thursday was a little frustrating though. My blood pressure is up a tiny bit. Not to bad. Still in the normal range. Doc comes in to check everything though and instead of having the general discomfort of the internal like two weeks ago, she definitely did something ‘more’. Which I was completely not prepared for, so it hurt quite a bit! I am ‘more effaced than last time’ and about a fingertip dialated. I think I’m a fingertip dialated right now because she did that herself! Ugh! I would be fine with this progress but the Doc was not and she was disappointed that I had not progressed further. She started talking about inducing if the baby is not here within a week of my due date. Justin had to question her about which due date she was talking about.
She is still going by the December 7th due date! So, she said that if I don’t have the baby by the 14th, she wants it out. I’ve heard varying stories about inducing but most of the time I’ve heard it makes everything a lot more ‘intense’ rather than the natural progression of labor. Plus, if they start inducing you and you don’t make any progress, then they move on to a C-section after awhile. I am perfectly fine waiting for Snickers to make an appearance on “it’s” own time schedule! Especially since my first thought of the due date was 12/12 and the ultrasound dated it to 12/14 which makes the most sense from my first charting date. The doc was going off of my last period date which doesn’t give you the most information. At this time, Justin and I both don’t want to induce around the 14th. I would rather wait until Dec 19th which is the Monday after, at least! Unless there is something wrong with the baby, of course. But right now everything is looking good. It’s impossible to tell how big the baby is but she said around 7 or 8 lbs ‘by my due date’. The average baby grows about 1/2 a pound a week so it wouldn’t be *that* bad (in my mind anyway?).
So, I’ve been going on walks every night. I think I have been feeling one or two contractions a day the last week and from Friday, those have increased to about 6 or 10 a day. They don’t hurt or anything so hopefully my body is getting ready and will do something before she convinces us into an induction.
Next Doc appt is Thursday, on the 8th.
